'Kindling Aspirations' 28th SEA Games

The Mandarin idiom of 薪火相傳 ("The flame of a burning piece of firewood will set the rest alight") figuratively represents the knowledge or skills passed down from one generation to another. This 3-metre tall round sculpture with a central flame-like figure, was only complete upon adding symbolic '薪火 Community Flames', received from the other Torch Up! Community Torches, located at Orchard Road, Bras Basah, Sports Hub and Marina Bay through the 'ExtraOrdinary Run'. As representation of the lit firewood, a stained glass marathon was conducted in April 2015, with participants from all walks of life contributing to the creation of the beautiful coloured glass strips that adorn the work.
